Day 43 of 100 Days of Making Comics

1/24/2021 -  Day 43: Still working on the model sheet of Dr. Spyder. I’m beginning to experiment with choices of color right now as well. About two and half hours went into writing for this comic today. On the side, I’ve been writing for some other stories.

Progress Screenshots: This is still concept art, since I haven't completely settled on a design for when he's not wearing the cybernetic beard [generally during repairs or modification.]

[I may change his color scheme as well in the near future.]

Other Notes:

Today's random interesting animal(s):

  • Nautilus isn't just the name of captain Nemo's submarine, it's also the name of an unusual shelled marine cephalopod that belongs to the family Nautilidae.  They are believed to be the only extant cephalopods that have a true external planispiral shell.
    • They have several unique features of their own that set them apart from just being a shelled squid or octopus. To name a couple; nautiluses can have as many as 90 non-elastic retractable "tentacles" which are technically called cirri, and lack pads or suckers. As far as researchers currently know, the nautilus also has the longest lifespan of any other cephalopod, which can exceed 20 years. Throughout that long lifespan, they are able to reproduce more than once.
  • TOOLS USED for the art in this post: Autodesk sketchbook on the ipad pro.

  • I spent a significant amount of time today going through my family's library of books, and ohh there's so much that I want to read.

Thanks for checking out the blog! :)

    1. Maybe haha, this is concept art. personally, I don't really think that he'll keep this color scheme, since it doesn't seem to fit as well as it could with the character I'm trying to portray here. But ya have to start somewhere :)
